The new teeth that are beginning to poke through will replace the baby teeth and will be the final set of teeth your cat will have so it s particularly important to take care of them.

Do kittens lose teeth at 5 months. Around 4 7 months of age permanent adult teeth will start replacing the baby teeth. This is when the majority of cat teething issues begin. You may never even see the teeth as your kitten loses them as they are often lost during mealtime or through play. At around six months of age most cats should have lost their baby teeth to make way for their adult teeth.

Cats drop their baby teeth just like we do. The adult premolars erupt at about 4 1 2 months and the canine permanent teeth at 5 1 2 to 6 1 2 months. Baby teeth may still be present but some kittens will lose them all by the time they are six months old. The deciduous teeth begin to fall out and be replaced by permanent teeth starting at around 11 weeks of age. You may find baby teeth lying around the house but most of the time the kitten swallows the teeth. Although the timing varies between animals as much as it does among humans the average kitten will have lost all her baby teeth by between 6 and 9 months old.

Some veterinarians will recommend extracting any baby teeth that remain in your kitten s mouth when it gets spayed or neutered. The last ones to fall out the canines and major premolars do so at about 4 5 months of age. Long before their first birthday your growing kitten should have 30 permanent teeth. His occurs over time not all at once.

The baby blue eyes will have changed to a permanent adult eye color unless the cat has the genes to permanently have blue eyes. A typical cat will have 26 baby teeth and 30 adult teeth so there is a lot of teething going on for a few months. By 6 months all 10 premolars are in place. However the kitten teething process does not end here.

Kittens start losing their baby teeth around 9 weeks of age and from that time until their adult teeth are fully grown in at 5 to 6 months you can count on lots of chewing action. The four molars do not come in until late kittenhood or even early adulthood. At 6 to 7 months old all of your kitten s baby teeth normally will have been replaced by 30 permanent teeth. By 4 months all the permanent incisors are usually in place.

By three months of age a kitten s eyes will also be their adult color. Between 5 to 6 months of age your kitten gets four extra teeth two at the top and two at the bottom called molars. Cats begin losing their baby teeth at around 12 weeks or 3 months.
